Are Wrist or Hand Braces a Solution to Carpal Tunnel Pain?

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a painful condition that affects the hands, fingers, and wrists. Many sufferers often feel burning, itching or painful tingling feeling in their hands and fingers. Some people experience wrist pain.

The condition is caused by pressure on the median nerve, which runs from the forearm through the wrist into the hand. Repetitive motions such as typing, assembly line work, or working as a stylist or cook can cause inflammation in the carpal tunnel, which causes pressure on the nerve.

The numbness, tingling, and weakness from CTS leave sufferers unable to grasp small objects and perform many daily tasks. Wrist or hand braces are often prescribed to carpal tunnel patients, which do not relieve the pain caused by carpal tunnel.

Also, wearing a wrist brace will provide support and keep the wrist in a neutral position, but it often gets in the way of work and other tasks. Range of motion is limited while wearing a wrist brace or hand braces.

In addition, people who suffer from carpal tunnel such as pregnant mothers will find it difficult to sleep at night wearing an uncomfortable hand brace.

Surgery is another option to relieve CTS hand pain. However, recovery isn’t always guaranteed for patients who have this surgery. On top of that, the surgery and recovery time can be even more arduous than carpal tunnel. In addition, surgery is expensive so sufferers resort to wearing hand and wrist braces.

Alternative treatments include drugs, steroids, or modalities such as massage or acupuncture.  However, some people cannot take medications and results from other treatments are only temporary.

CarpalAID is another great alternative solution to dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome. Unlike most products, CarpalAID is barely noticeable because of its convenient size. It is small and easy to use and uses no medication of any kind. It is proven to directly relieve carpal tunnel syndrome hand pain.

In Summary

While wrist and hand braces may help with limiting a person’s motions and prevent intensifying hand pain, they do not solve the problem of carpal tunnel.

It is important to see a doctor who can correctly diagnose your condition. If carpal tunnel syndrome is the cause of your hand pain, you can try one of the modalities above or try CarpalAID.
